Balloons can be made transparent by operating the [Fill Opacity] of the Balloon layer.

Steps

1. Select a balloon layer that allows the background to pass through.

2. In the [Layer Properties] palette, change the expression color of the balloon layer to [Gray].

* For monochrome manga, turn on the [Tone] effect in addition to the above settings.

3. Select the [Operation] tool → [Object] sub tool.

4. Click [Sub Tool Detail] on the [Tool Property] palette to display the [Sub Tool Detail] palette.

* It can also be displayed from the [Window] menu → [Sub Tool Detail].

5. Select [Balloon] on the [Sub Tool Detail] palette and lower the value of [Fill Opacity].

By lowering the value, the base of the balloon will be transparent.

If you want the background of the balloon to be completely transparent, select [Create Line] in [Line / Fill].

When a balloon is placed on the halftone dot tone

If you put a balloon on the halftone dot tone, the halftone dots may overlap and you may not be able to see through.
