How do I add borders to images and text?

The methods for adding a border differs for images and text.

Please find each method below.



Studio Mode: Adding borders to images

1. Select the layer or layer folder with the image you want to use the border effect on.


2. Select Layer Property > Effect > Border effect > Edge.



If you cannot find Layer Properties
Go to the Window and check Layer Property for it to display.


3. Adjust to get the desired border thickness.

Simple Mode: Adding borders to images

1. Select the layer or layer folder with the image you want to use the border effect on.


2. Select Border.

■ Smartphones


3. Turn on Border. Set the border thickness and color.



Putting Edges to Text

If you are using Clip Studio Paint on tablet or smartphone, please switch to Studio Mode first.


1. Click the text with the Text tool to put it in edit status.


2. Select the part you want to add a border.



3. Select Advanced Tool Settings from Tool Settings.



If you cannot find Tool Settings
Go to the Window and check Tool Settings for it to display.


4. In the Advanced Tool Settings palette, select Text and then check Edge.



Note:
Depending on the version you are using, the palette names may differ as follows.
- Advanced Tool Settings palette > Sub Tool Detail palette
- Tool Settings palette > Tool Property palette


5. Adjust to obtain desired border thickness.


(1) Set the thickness of the edges with the slider.

(2) Set edge color.

Clicking the color indicator displays the Color settings dialog box where you can set the color.

Adding a border along a selection

If you are using Clip Studio Paint on tablet or smartphone, please switch to Studio Mode first.


1. Use the Selection tool to create a selection.



2. Select the desired border color.



3. Select the Edit menu > Outline Selection.



4. In the Outline Selection dialog box, set settings such as thickness and where the border is drawn, and press OK.



If Outline Selection is grayed out
Create a new layer to create the border from the Layer menu > New Raster Layer.


5. A border is created along the selection.
