How can I color my line art so it blends better in my drawings?
When creating color illustrations, you can change the color of your line art to be closer to the colors in the rest of the illustration, instead of a solid color.
This technique helps bring the illustration together by blending the line art with the color.
There are several ways to change the color of the line art.
Changing the color of the lines themselves
You can turn on [Lock transparent pixels] on a line art layer to lock the layer and paint over the line art with an airbrush or pen tool.
1. Select the line art layer and turn on [Lock transparent pixels] in the layer palette.
2. Use a pen or brush tool to change the color of the line art where needed.
Painting on a layer clipped to the line art
If the line art is a vector layer and cannot be filled in directly, or if you want to preserve the original color of the line art layer itself, create a new layer on top of the line art and turn on [Clip at Layer Below].
1. Create a raster layer on top of the line art layer.
2. Select the new layer and click [Clip at layer below].
3. When you paint over the lines on the new layer, only those areas will be colored.
