Question

How can I draw a line in the exact center of the canvas to divide it equally?

Answer

Use the grid feature to make equal divisions or draw a line in the center of the canvas.

Drawing a line in the center of the canvas

1. Select [Grid] in the [View] menu.

This adds a check next to it in the [View] menu and displays a grid on the canvas.

2. Select [View] menu > [Grid/Ruler Settings] and adjust the grid as needed.

(1) Set the [Origin of grid/ruler] to [Center].

(2) Set [Gap] under [Settings of grid] to the maximum value.

Note:

Adjust [Gap] and [Number of divisions] as needed to make drawing lines easier.

(3) Turn on [Snap to Grid] from the Command Bar and draw lines using the [Straight line] tool.

You can also turn on [Snap to Grid] from the [View] menu.

Dividing the canvas into three parts

If you want to divide the canvas into three parts, set the [Settings of grid] as shown below.

Origin of grid/ruler
Set this to [Top Left] or [Top Right]

Settings of grid
Gap: Set this to 1/3 the length of the canvas
Number of divisions: 1

Note:

If you want to divide an A4 sized canvas vertically into three parts, set the [Gap] to 99mm, 1/3 of its length, 297mm.

It is also possible to form other equal divisions by adjusting the value of [Gap] according to [Number of divisions].
