How do I apply a watercolor edge?

You can apply a border or edge to watercolors in Clip Studio Paint using the following methods.


・Apply effect to the entire layer
・Apply effect to brush strokes


● What is a watercolor edge?

You can add a bleed effect to a layer or to the edges of a brush.

This can be used when you want to add a traditional watercolor effect to your work.




Applying to a layer

By using the [Effect] function in the [Layer Property] palette, you can apply a watercolor edge to the entire layer.

You can also apply the effect to folders.


1. Select a layer to which you want to apply a watercolor edge to, and then go to the [Layer Property] palette > [Effect] > [Border effect].



2. Select [Watercolor Edge] under [Border effect] and adjust the settings as needed.



A watercolor edge will be applied around the area being drawn.



This can also be used if you want to add a watercolor edge later on.

Applying to a brush stroke

You can apply a watercolor edge to a brush by making adjustments in the [Sub Tool Detail] palette.


1. Select the brush to which you want to apply a watercolor edge.



2. Select the [Sub Tool Detail] palette from the [Tool Property] palette.



Note: The [Sub Tool Detail] palette can also be accessed from [Window] menu > [Sub Tool Detail].


3. Select [Watercolor edge] in the [Sub Tool Detail] palette and turn on [Watercolor edge].

You can change the size of the edge by adjusting its value.



You can now draw with a watercolor edge applied to brush strokes.
