Windows, Version 1.10.13: Moving the User Data Folder

The following changes have been made to the location of the user data folder in the Windows versions of Clip Studio Paint 1.10.13 and later and Clip Studio Modeler 1.10.13 and later.



User data folder name: CELSYS



Common folder location:

C:/Users/(User Name)/Documents/CELSYS

Note: Documents folder


Modified folder location:

C:/Users/(User Name)/AppData/Roaming/CELSYSUserData/CELSYS

Note: AppData is a hidden folder.



If you have updated from a previous version, you can move the folder to a new location by running the [Move user data folder] command.


If you move the folder, you can still use the application with the same settings as before.



What is the User data Folder?

The User Data Folder is the Clip Studio Paint folder that contains the application settings and custom content such as your own brushes, shortcuts, and materials.

The application will browse the User data folder and retrieve custom data.



Should I move the location of my user data folder?

If you are using Windows 10 and any of the following cases apply to you, we recommend moving the user data folder.

If this does not apply to you, you can use it without moving it.



When using a cloud storage service such as OneDrive to sync document folders


If your OneDrive is over capacity, it will become unstable, so we recommend moving the user data folder.


Note
When synchronizing document folders with cloud storage services such as Dropbox, we recommend moving the User data folder as well.



When using Windows Security (Microsoft Defender)


If both of the following conditions are present, operation may be affected.

It is recommended that you move it to allow the application to work properly.


・The user data folder is located in the document folder.

・Enable Controlled folder access in Microsoft Defender’s settings.


To move the user data folder, please temporarily turn off Microsoft Defender's Controlled folder access before moving it. Please turn it back on when you are done.


To turn off the setting, follow steps 1 to 7 on the following page.



Note: If Controlled folder access is always off, you do not need to move the user data folder.



How do I move my user data folder?

1. Start Clip Studio.


2. From the gear setting icon, select [Maintenance Menu] > [Move user data folder], and follow the on-screen instructions.
