Smartphone: Do I need to sign up for the Smartphone plan to use Companion mode?
If you are only planning to use Companion mode, there is no need to be on the Smartphone plan.
Time spent in Companion mode does not count towards the free for 30 hours every month of use available to smartphone users.
Note:
If you switch to companion mode with the canvas displayed, the time spent in companion mode will be counted as time spent.
