Clip Studio folder
The Clip Studio folder stores files created in Clip Studio Paint Ver. 3.2.0 or later.
This folder is used as the save location for automatically saving a canvas, saving in Simple Mode, or files downloaded from the cloud from Projects.
Clip Studio folder location
The Clip Studio folder will be created in your device's Internal Storage > Documents folder when Clip Studio Paint is launched.
It can be accessed through your device's Files app.
Clip Studio folder access permissions
Access permissions are necessary to view all the files in the Clip Studio folder.
If a message asking for permissions appears, grant access from Select folder.
How to give access permission
1. Tap Select folder.
2. Select Internal storage > Documents > Clip Studio folder and tap Use this folder.
- If you reinstalled Clip Studio Paint, access permission is required to access files saved in the Clip Studio folder before reinstallation.
- Accessing moved and copied files in the Clip Studio folder with your device’s Files app will also require access permission.
If there is no Documents folder
If your device does not have a Documents folder and an error message appears, then please create a Documents folder in your device’s Internal storage and try to save the file again in Clip Studio Paint.
How to create a Documents folder
This section describes the steps for Galaxy devices.
1. Open My Files.
2. Select Internal storage, and then select ︙ in the upper right > Create folder.
3. Enter “Documents”.
4. A Documents folder will be created in your device’s internal storage.
Warning for saving to a location other than the Clip Studio folder
The following restrictions apply if you save a file to a location other than the Clip Studio folder.
- When opening or saving a clip file, it may take longer than usual.
- It may take longer than usual to open, save, or edit a page management file.
- The file will not be displayed in Clip Studio's project list
- Cannot record Open and Import auto actions
- File cannot be referenced by canvas (see below)
Actions unavailable for files saved outside Clip Studio folder
- Files referenced by a file object layer
- Files registered in item bank (.clip files, image files, video files)
- 3D Primitive and Panorama texture files
