What is the Update Pass?

The Update Pass allows one-time perpetual license users access to the latest features without the need for a new version perpetual license and at a fraction of the price.

An Update Pass is valid for a period of one year from the time of activation, and you can choose when you want to activate it.

Even after your Update Pass ends, you can continue to use your perpetual version.

Will I be able to open .clip files created using Ver. 4.0 in Ver. 3.0 and earlier versions?

Yes. However, there may be cases where you may not be able to edit parts that make use of new Ver. 4.0 features when the .clip file is opened in Ver. 3 or earlier.

I received a perpetual version license for Ver. 3.0 or earlier from a pre-release offer. How can I get Ver. 4.0?

Purchase the discounted upgrade to Ver. 4.0, or get the Update Pass to use Ver. 4.0.

Is there a discounted upgrade for Ver. 1 or Ver. 2.0 to Ver. 4.0?

It is not possible to upgrade directly from Ver. 1 to Ver. 4.0 (perpetual version, one-time payment).

First get the discounted upgrade from Ver. 1 to Ver. 2.0, then Ver. 2.0 to Ver. 3.0 and then upgrade from Ver. 3.0 to Ver. 4.0. Version upgrades only upgrade to the next major version.

We recommend that Ver. 1 perpetual license users buy the Update Pass (annual) to access the latest versions at a lower price.

Can I continue to use Ver. 3.0 and earlier versions even after the release of Ver. 4.0?

Yes, you can continue to use your existing license.

The Ver. 3.0 perpetual version will still get free stability patches when necessary to address major bugs in the app.

Can I use Ver. 3.1 and Ver. 3.2 features in Ver. 4.0 (perpetual version, one-time purchase)?

Yes. Ver. 4.0 includes new features specifically for the 4.0 release as well as all features released in 2024, that you can use for an indefinite time period.

If I purchase the Update Pass with an Ver. 3.0 or earlier perpetual license, what will happen if I do not renew the Update Pass?

If you purchase the Update Pass with an Ver. 3.0 or earlier perpetual license, then you will be able to use the latest version like Ver. 4.0 while it is active.

After the Update Pass expires, you will be able to use the perpetual, one-time purchase license for the version you had before.

・If you have Ver. 2.0 (perpetual version, one-time purchase): Ver. 2.0.6

Will I get the added features beyond Ver. 4.0 with the Ver. 4.0 (perpetual version, one-time purchase)?

With the Ver. 4.0 (one-time purchase license), you can get stability updates that fix bugs up to Ver. 4.0.X.

An Update Pass or Monthly/Annual Plan is required to get the features added after the initial release of Ver. 4.0.

Can I use Ver. 4.0 when it releases if I have a valid Update Pass?

When the Update Pass is active you will be able to use the latest version of the app.

That means that you will also be able to use Ver. 4.0 and later with a valid Pass.

It does not matter what version of the one-time perpetual license you have when signing up for a new Update Pass.

Windows/macOS: Can I use the app offline with Ver. 4.0?

Clip Studio Paint for Windows/macOS can be used offline for 15 days.

How many computers can I use Ver. 4.0 (perpetual version, one-time purchase) on?

The Ver. 4.0 (perpetual version, one-time purchase) can be used on one computer. You can change which computer you use it on when you transfer the app.
