Windows: What should I do if a firewall dialog appears when I try to connect in Companion mode?
If a firewall warning dialog appears when trying to connect your Windows device in Companion mode, please allow access.
・You will not be able to start Companion mode if access is not granted.
・If no warning appears, please see here for assistance.
Allowing access
When the Windows Defender firewall warning screen appears, click Allow access.
・Be sure to allow access to the app on any firewall warnings from other security programs that may appear.
・If no warning appears, please see here for assistance.
Workaround when you do not allow access
If you closed the Windows Defender firewall warning screen without allowing access, you can allow access via Windows Settings.
Note: See here if you have any other security programs installed.
1. Select Settings from the Windows Start menu.
2. Select Update & Security.
3. On the left-hand side of the window, select Windows Security > Firewall & network protection.
4. Select “Allow an app through the firewall”
5. On the Allowed applications screen, click Change settings.
6. Check the boxes for Clip Studio Paint, as well as the networks you would like to give it access to and click OK.
Allow access according to the type of network you would like to use Companion mode on.
To check the type of network you are connected to, go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
If no warning screen appears
If your system has other security programs installed and you have not set your system's permissions, or if a warning screen doesn't appear, you may need to grant access manually.
Please check with your security software provider how to set your permissions.
