Tablet/Smartphone: A delay occurs when drawing
If you experience delays when drawing, please try the following in order from the top.
- Close other applications
- Update to the latest version
If the problem persists after trying all of the above, take the following measures according to your issue.
Change Undo levels
Drawing delay may be due to the value set in undo levels.
Please follow the steps below:
1. Open Clip Studio Paint menu > Preferences.
2. Under Performance, set the value of Undo levels to a lower value.
If the problem persists even after changing the value, set Undo interval between actions to 0.
Increasing the Undo levels value means more memory will be used, increasing the likelihood that the app may lag or force quit.
Change canvas size
Select File menu > New and create a 800px x 600px canvas with 72dpi to check if the delay still occurs.
If the delay does not occur on the newly created canvas, then the delay may be due to having a large canvas size on the file you were working on.
From the Edit menu, check the canvas size from Change Image Resolution and change it as required.
If the canvas size exceeds 10,000 px on one side, it may affect drawing performance.
If the unit is set to mm, check that the size is not too large.
Example: A normal-sized manga manuscript is B4 size (220mm×310mm).
Check Sub Tools
Check if a specific brush delays or if all brushes delay.
If a specific brush delays, return the brush to default settings and confirm if it still delays.
For watercolor and decoration brushes, drawing speed slows down when the brush size is large.
