If you see an error message saying "This app version cannot be activated with your license (Ver. 1)" upon launching

If you see This app version cannot be activated with your license (Ver. 1), then this means that Clip Studio Paint Ver. 2 is installed with a Ver. 1 license activated.

You can use Clip Studio Paint Ver. 2.0 and later by launching the app and activating a Ver. 2.0 or later one-time purchase license, the Update Pass, or annual/monthly plan.

If you do not have a license for Ver. 2 or later

If you do not have a license for Ver. 2.0 or later, you can purchase a Ver. 2.0 or later perpetual license, or subscribe to the Update Pass or annual/monthly plan.

Note: If you forgot which product you have purchased or don’t know the details of your plan, see here.
Find out which plan for Ver. 2.0 or later works best for you based on the way you use Clip Studio Paint.

Note that the procedure differs depending on your license after purchase or subscribing.

Ver. 2.0 and later one-time purchase perpetual license

Activate your license in the following way if you received your Clip Studio Paint Ver. 2.0 or later one-time purchase perpetual license through the pre-release offer as a gift.

Note:
・A Clip Studio Paint Ver. 2.0 one-time purchase license (including licenses received through the pre-release offer) does not allow you to use Ver. 2.1 or later. To do so, purchasing a Ver. 3.0 one-time purchase license or subscribing to an Update Pass or annual/monthly plan is required.

1. Start Clip Studio.

2. Tap Enter Activation code, and register your code.

Ver. 3.0 or later

Ver. 2.0 or earlier

3. After registering your code, tap Change license.

Update Pass

If you are subscribed to the Update Pass, follow the steps below to activate your license.

Note: If you have an Update Pass activation code, please look here.

1. Start Clip Studio Paint.

2. On the Getting Started with Clip Studio Paint screen, tap Select & Enter.

3. The license will be automatically authenticated and Clip Studio Paint will startup.

Note:

If a license list pops up, tap the license that you want to use and press Activate.

If the authentication screen does not display

If the Getting Started with Clip Studio Paint screen does not display after launch, then you can verify your license from the Review/Change License screen.

Windows

Select the Help menu > Review/Change License.

macOS

Select the Clip Studio Paint logo menu > Review/Change License.

Annual/Monthly plans

If you are subscribed to an annual/monthly plan, follow the steps on the page below to activate your license.

Use Ver. 1

If you wish to continue using Clip Studio Paint Ver. 1, please follow the instructions here to downgrade.
